Mountain Maniac
Control Option: Arrow Keys.
The Mountain Maniac is kind of a distraction game in which you need to hold the Down Arrow keys to adjust the power and then release to break the mountain and fall.
Mountain Maniac puts you in charge of an angry lumberjack with a large hammer. A town sits below his mountain. You send boulders downhill and try to wreck its buildings. The action follows each rock through the landscape. You cause the damage rather than rescue the town.
Timing the Hammer Strike
Use the arrow keys to move the lumberjack. Hold X to prepare a boulder, then release the key to launch it. A longer hold produces a larger rock. Watch the hammer during this action. Releasing the button as the hammer turns red gives you maximum power.
The arrow keys also guide the falling boulder. You have limited control over its path. The rock still bounces against the mountain and can get stuck on a ledge. Smashing objects fills a rage meter and gives you more control. Guiding the rock takes more attention than simply watching it fall.
Five Boulders to Damage the Town
Each stage gives you five boulders and a target amount of town damage. Later levels demand more destruction. A large rock alone does not guarantee success. Its route matters too. Aim toward buildings that still stand. Spreading your attempts across the town helps you avoid wasting drops on an empty patch.
Collisions can spread beyond the boulder itself. A flying object can strike another target and cause more damage. Vehicles and aircraft join the chaos along the route. These extra hits make each drop less predictable. You need to watch the surrounding action as well as the rock.
A yeti can also smash your boulder. That creature adds another danger to the journey downhill. Watching for the yeti matters alongside choosing targets and keeping the rock moving toward the town.
Defending the Mountaintop
Police climb the mountain after the boulder section. You return to controlling the lumberjack and use X to swing the hammer at approaching officers. Later stages send more enemies. Your job changes from guiding a heavy rock to keeping the lumberjack out of their reach. Reaching the town’s damage target still leaves this encounter to handle.
