Introduction to Yammy Yammy 2

I stumbled across Yammy Yammy 2 the other day, and I’ve got to say, it’s a delightful surprise. At first glance, it looks like a bright, fruit-themed platformer—think rolling watermelons, bouncing bananas, and a handful of cheeky challenges—but it’s so much more than just eye candy. The sequel really leans into whimsical level design, tossing in enough hidden nooks and secret doorways that you’ll find yourself backtracking just to squeeze every bit of fun out of each stage.

Jumping into the gameplay, you control this little round character whose name you only find out after a dozen tries at the first boss fight. It’s intuitive to pick up—run, jump, and use a handful of power-ups picked up along the way—but there’s enough nuance that speedrunners and completionists will find plenty to chew on. There’s a nifty combo system that rewards chaining moves together, and you can even customize your character’s “jam” loadout, which changes how you tackle obstacles. If you’re the kind of person who loves unlocking that last star or banana, prepare to lose track of time.

What really seals the deal is the local co-op mode. Drag a friend in on the couch or pass the controller back and forth, and suddenly those colorful worlds feel like a party. There are mini-games sprinkled in between levels, and some of them get hilariously competitive when you’re all vying for the top score. By the end of it, whether you’re high-fiving a buddy or groaning at another embarrassing wipeout, Yammy Yammy 2 leaves you with that warm, silly glow you only get from the best couch-coop titles.
