Get to Know About The Several Journeys of Reemus: Chapter 4
I finally got around to playing Chapter 4 of The Several Journeys of Reemus, and it’s exactly as delightfully twisted as I’d hoped. You jump right back into that trademark dark humor, with Reemus bickering nonstop and your new sidekick—who I won’t spoil—tagging along to fend off an army of increasingly baffling creatures. The puzzles keep you scratching your head, but in the most satisfying way: you feel clever for piecing together oddball solutions involving everything from misplaced socks to sentient anchovies.
What really sold me was how every scene feels handcrafted. The backgrounds are richly detailed—sometimes so much that I paused just to take it all in—and the character animations are surprisingly smooth for something that feels so whimsically retro. You’ll find yourself giggling at tiny easter-egg jokes hidden in the scenery, like a poster that insults you if you stare too long or a fridge that’s suspiciously well-stocked for no reason.
I also have to mention the timing of the sound effects and music: they’re spot-on, sneaking up to give you little jump scares or underscore Reemus’s sarcastic one-liners. It’s this sort of playful tension that keeps you clicking around every corner, half-expecting something ridiculous to happen, and then being gleefully proven right. The game never drags; it’s paced so that you’re constantly rewarded with a fresh gag or a clever twist in the storyline.
All in all, Chapter 4 feels like the lovechild of classic point-and-click adventures and modern indie humor. It’s accessible if you’ve never played a Reemus game before, but seasoned fans will appreciate the inside jokes and callbacks. If you’re into quirky adventures that don’t take themselves too seriously, this installment is an absolute must-try—you’ll laugh, you’ll groan, and by the end, you’ll already be scheming how to sneak in a replay.
