Introduction to Riddle School 4
Riddle School 4 picks up the goofy, point-and-click style that made the earlier entries so much fun. You guide a plucky student through a series of quirky rooms, gathering oddball items and figuring out how they fit together to trigger little surprises. There’s a delight in clicking everything in sight, combining bubble gum with a pencil or using a random piece of chalk to open doors you’d swear were locked tight. It’s lighthearted, a bit silly, and never drags on for longer than it needs to.
The puzzles start off straightforward—find a key, use it somewhere obvious—but quickly ramp up with a few head-scratchers that make you grin when they finally click. The game trusts you to poke around, get stuck, then have that satisfying “aha” moment. Inventory management is simple, but each item has its purpose (even if it’s disguised in some laugh-out-loud way). There’s no frantic clock ticking in your face, so you can take your time testing out every weird combination.
Character interactions feel almost hand-drawn in their humor. Every teacher or janitor you meet reacts in an over-the-top fashion, whether they’re lecturing about homework or chasing you for mischief. The art style is chunky and charming, too—think chunky outlines, bold colors and goofy facial expressions, all of which add to the home-made charm. It’s the kind of game you can breeze through in one sitting but still crack open afterward just to revisit a favorite gag.
All told, Riddle School 4 is a quick, breezy escape room in cartoon form. It doesn’t pretend to be anything more than a handful of clever puzzles and a few good laughs. If you’ve enjoyed the rest of the series or just love poking at everything until something happens, it’s exactly the kind of quirky diversion you want when you’ve got a few minutes to kill.
