Get to Know About Hands of War 3
I’ve spent a surprising amount of time with Hands of War 3, and you know what? It’s one of those games that tries to straddle the line between an RPG and a real-time strategy title. You step into the shoes of a mercenary commander who’s not only hacking through enemies with a sword or firing off spells but also juggling a small army of hired troops. It sounds like a lot, but the blend actually works more often than you’d expect.
What really hooked me was how customizable your party can be. You pick from different hero classes—think warrior, archer, or mage—and then recruit mercenaries to round out your squad. Between leveling up your hero, upgrading gear you loot from defeated foes, and issuing tactical commands in real time, there’s always something to tinker with. It can get chaotic in big battles, though. You’ll want to learn to pause strategically so you don’t lose half your army to a surprise ambush.
The game world itself isn’t sprawling, but it’s peppered with side quests, hidden treasures, and branching dialogue options that let you shape your reputation. You’ll wander through forests, ancient ruins, and fortified towns, chatting up NPCs who either send you on errands or try to pick a fight. The story isn’t earth-shattering, but it provides enough motivation to keep exploring and grinding for better gear.
All things considered, Hands of War 3 is far from perfect—it shows its age in clunky pathfinding and a sometimes awkward interface—but if you’re in the mood for a game that marries hero-driven RPG progression with the tactical feel of commanding troops, it nails the basics. It’s not going to wow with flashy graphics, but it’s got enough depth and quirky charm to keep you engaged through those marathon play sessions.
