Introduction to Gibbets 3
Gibbets 3 picks up right where the previous games left off, but this time with even more elaborate physics puzzles that will have you scratching your head in a good way. You’re still playing as that trusty archer at the bottom of the screen, but now there are explosive barrels, moving platforms and bouncing pegs that send your arrows on a wild ride before they even reach the target rope. It’s surprisingly satisfying every time you manage to free a captive just by thinking one shot ahead.
What really stands out is how the game plays with different types of arrows and special power-ups. Sometimes you’ll want to stick with your trusty standard arrow, but others call for a bomb bolt or a rope-snapping ice shard. It makes each level feel fresh, because you’re not just repeating the same trick in a slightly harder environment—you’re constantly mixing and matching to find the right strategy. And yes, some levels will make you want to toss your mouse across the room, but that only makes the eventual “ah-ha!” moment that much sweeter.
Replay value comes naturally thanks to the star system, where you can challenge yourself to set up chain-reaction rescues for bonus points. Once you’ve polished off the main stages, you can go back to hunt down missed stars or see how many coins you can collect to unlock new arrow types. All in all, Gibbets 3 is one of those casual games you won’t mind playing for five minutes or an entire afternoon—just don’t be surprised if your “quick break” turns into a full-on puzzle marathon.
