Enjoy Playing Corporate Climber
I recently sat down with Corporate Climber and immediately got hooked by its tongue-in-cheek take on office life. You start off as a run-of-the-mill cubicle dweller, juggling coffee breaks and TPS reports, and your goal is to snag enough PowerPoints, money, and influence to land that coveted corner office. The game pieces are surprisingly charming—little coffee cup tokens, decked-out presentation cards, and those notorious “office politics” event cards that can turn your perfect strategy into a nightmare of endless paperwork.
Turns move quickly: draw a card, play a presentation or bribe your way past a copier jam, then shuffle your deck back in. The coffee mechanic is pure gold—run out, and you’re stuck in a groggy slump until you can sweet-talk your way to the break room for a fresh cup. It feels like a perfect blend of push-your-luck and lighthearted sabotage, since you can always rain on a rival’s parade with a sudden “Reorg” card or by swooping in to snatch that last promotion bonus.
What really sold me, though, was the way it captures those subtle social dynamics of a real office without ever feeling mean-spirited. One moment you’re slyly trading project credits, the next you’re conspiring to blame someone else for the printer meltdown. It’s the kind of playful back-and-forth that keeps everyone on their toes and laughing when someone inevitably trips over their own strategy.
By the time someone finally nails the sixth floor and claims the title of “Executive VP of Awesomeness,” you’ve usually been through a whirlwind of good-natured trash talk, near-comebacks, and enough coffee spills to justify a company policy change. If you’re in the mood for a quick, witty game night that lampoons cubicle culture in the best possible way, Corporate Climber is definitely worth a shot.
