Roll the Dice and Build a Winning Score in Yatzy
Yatzy is a classic dice game where you try to earn the highest score by rolling five dice and making different number combinations. The game is closely related to Yahtzee and combines luck with careful decisions.
You get up to three rolls during each turn.
After rolling, you can keep the dice you like and roll the others again. Your goal is to create combinations that earn points on your scorecard.
The challenge comes from choosing which dice to keep and deciding where to record your score.
Roll Five Dice and Look for Matching Numbers
Yatzy begins with five ordinary six-sided dice.
Click the roll button to throw them.
You might receive several matching numbers or a mixture of different values.
After the first roll, you can select the dice you want to keep.
Roll the remaining dice again to improve your combination.
You can roll up to three times during each turn.
Complete the Different Scoring Categories
The scorecard includes spaces for collecting points.
The upper section has categories for Ones, Twos, Threes, Fours, Fives, and Sixes.
For example, three dice showing four can earn twelve points in the Fours category.
Other categories include three of a kind, four of a kind, straights, full house, and chance.
Some Yatzy versions also include separate categories for one pair and two pairs.
You can use each scoring category only once.
Try to Roll a Yatzy
The most famous combination is Yatzy.
You achieve it by rolling five dice that show the same number.
This combination normally awards 50 points.
You can also earn a bonus by collecting enough points in the upper section.
A total of at least 63 points earns an additional bonus. Its value depends on the version of the game.
