Barbarian Bob is a side-scrolling sword-fighting game about a warrior who sets out to defeat the evil ruler of the land.
Bob carries two important pieces of equipment: a sword for attacking and a shield for defending himself.
Enemy fighters stand between Bob and the king. Getting through them requires more than running forward and pressing the attack button over and over. Blocking at the right moment can be just as important as swinging the sword.
Learn the Basic Controls
The arrow keys move Bob through the level.
Pressing A attacks with the sword. S raises the shield. D makes Bob jump.
These three actions form the main part of the combat.
An enemy preparing to strike gives you a reason to use the shield. Once the attack passes, you can lower your defense and strike back.
Trying to attack constantly leaves Bob open to enemy weapons.
Combine Movement With Attacks
Barbarian Bob also has moves that combine the basic controls.
Pressing a direction with the attack button performs a lunge attack. Jumping and attacking produces an airborne strike. You can even use the shield while jumping.
These options give you more ways to approach each opponent.
A normal sword swing works at close range. A lunge helps Bob cover some distance while attacking. Jumping can help when movement on the ground becomes dangerous.

Blocking is one of the most useful skills in Barbarian Bob.
Enemies carry weapons of their own, so rushing directly into every fight can quickly cause trouble.
The shield gives you time to study an opponent. Defend against an attack, wait for an opening, and then use the sword.
This simple attack-and-block system gives the battles more thought than a game where the fastest button pressing always wins.
